The Shabbat Experience

יותר משישראל שמרו את השבת שמרה השבת אותם
“More than the Jewish people have kept Shabbat, Shabbat has kept the Jewish people.”
- Ahad Ha’am

At Broward Central Synagogue, we believe that Shabbat is the spiritual heartbeat of the Jewish people, a time to pause, reflect, sing and celebrate together. For us, Shabbat is not just a service; it is a complete experience that nourishes the soul, mind and body.

Every Friday evening, at 6:30pm, we gather at each of our campuses for a prayer experience that blends the traditional and the modern, with ancient Hebrew melodies, prayers and psalms interwoven with English explanations and insights that make the service meaningful and accessible to all.

Following the service, we continue the celebration with a complimentary Shabbat dinner, open to everyone. It is a moment to share stories, connect and experience the joy of community as we welcome Shabbat together.

On Saturday mornings, at our Plantation campus, services begin at 9:30am, followed by a Kiddush and Torah study at 11:00am, where we dive into the weekly parashah through reflection and conversation.

For those who live farther away or prefer a virtual experience, we also offer an online Torah study at 9:30am, allowing you to connect and learn wherever you are.

Kabbalat Shabbat and Complimentary Dinner

Shabbat is the highlight of our week at Broward Central Synagogue, and we want you to be part of it! Every Friday at 6:30pm, we gather for a lively, uplifting service filled with music, prayer and inspiration, followed by a complimentary kosher Shabbat dinner. It is more than a meal. It is a celebration of community, connection and joy. Join us this Friday and experience the spirit everyone’s talking about!

Shacharit, Kiddush and Study

Join us at 9:30am for our informal Shabbat morning services, featuring engaging melodies, explanations of prayers and readings from the Torah led by our clergy. After the service, enjoy a complimentary brunch-style Kiddush lunch. Following the meal, engage in a dynamic and interactive Torah study session with Rabbi Uri. Saturday morning is a fantastic way to connect with fellow worshippers and our clergy in a warm, welcoming setting, regardless of your level of knowledge.

Shabbat Evening Services

Our services are filled with music and joy and are geared toward members and visitors of all ages. All are welcome to pray with us at our Shabbat services. Our services are in both Hebrew and English, but are very accessible; the service includes explanations of the prayers and clear instructions on when to rise and sit and where we are in our service. Each service provides an opportunity for personal reflection as well as communal worship. Our music includes camp-style songs as well as traditional Hebrew chant.
