Hebrew High at Broward Central Synagogue is more than just a place of learning. It is a vibrant, engaging Jewish community for 7th–12th graders. Guided by our mission to educate our teens so they grow into knowledgeable, self-assured Jewish young adults, our program inspires teens to explore their Jewish identity, find personal meaning in tradition, learn leadership skills and build a strong connection to their community.

Through a dynamic mix of study, discussion, leadership development and hands-on experiences, Hebrew High empowers students to think critically, lead with compassion and live their Jewish values with pride. Our sessions, led by clergy and dedicated educators, are designed to be thoughtful, relevant and interactive,  helping teens grow not just in knowledge but in confidence and purpose.

From B’nai Mitzvah preparation to confirmation and leadership training, Hebrew High provides a meaningful journey that supports every stage of Jewish teen life.

Education Program

7th Grade
B’nai Mitzvah Track + Sessions With the Clergy

Sunday Mornings | 10:00am–12:00pm

Our 7th-grade program is a transformative year that bridges classroom learning with real-world action. Each week, students participate in the B’nai Mitzvah Track: Learning and Doing from 10:00–11:00am. Through thoughtful study, they explore Jewish themes rooted in Torah, traditionand values. These lessons come to life with immersive, hands-on field trips, whether through mitzvah projects, volunteering, or engaging with local Jewish organizations, helping students live their learning in meaningful ways.

An optional Hebrew class is available at 9:00am for those looking to strengthen their skills in preparation for their B’nai Mitzvah (additional fee applies).

From 11:00am–12:00pm, students join Sessions with the Clergy. These powerful, interactive sessions dive into Torah, Jewish holidays and current events, offering a space for thoughtful dialogue and spiritual growth.

This program is for any teen planning a Bar/Bat mitzvah at the synagogue.

EDUCATION PROGRAM

8th Grade
MIT (Madrichim in Training) Track

Sunday Mornings | 8:45am–12:00pm

The MIT Track is a dynamic, yearlong leadership journey where 8th graders begin building the skills and confidence needed to become future Madrichim and community leaders. The program combines interactive classes with hands-on experiences that cultivate purposeful, empathetic leadership.

Participants develop a strong foundation in leadership and Jewish identity, preparing them to guide, support and inspire others within the community. Through advanced workshops and mentoring, students strengthen key skills including public speaking, event planning, teamwork and working with younger children.

This program not only prepares students to become Madrichim, but also equips them with lifelong leadership tools that will support them in their future endeavors, within the Jewish community and beyond.

EDUCATION PROGRAM

9th Grade
Madrichim Track

Sunday Mornings | 8:45am–12:00pm

The Madrichim Track is designed for teens who have completed the MIT Track and are ready to take on active leadership roles within the community. Madrichim lead activities for younger students and assist in classrooms, gaining hands-on experience that builds confidence, responsibility and real-world leadership skills.

Madrichim are responsible for planning and running their own activities, fostering creativity, initiative and teamwork. As part of the program, they participate in regular supervision sessions where mentors provide guidance and feedback.

Through this program, teens make a meaningful impact on their community while continuing to strengthen the skills and values that will serve them in future leadership roles and lifelong endeavors. Students also earn community service hours.

EDUCATION PROGRAM

10th Grade
Madrichim Track and Confirmation Classes

Sunday Mornings | 8:45am–12:00pm

Teens who have completed the MIT Track and become Madrichim lead activities for younger students and assist in classrooms. This hands-on role provides real leadership experience and a meaningful impact on our community. Students earn community service hours.

Confirmation Classes (Every Other Sunday | 11:00am–12:00pm)
Confirmation is a 13-session journey with Rabbi Uri where students affirm their connection to Jewish tradition, values and community. Through study, debate and reflection, students engage with core Jewish texts and explore what it means to live as a Jew in the modern world. The year culminates in a meaningful Confirmation Ceremony during Shavuot.

Teens may choose to participate in one or all of the opportunities listed above. Each option is based on the level of commitment and engagement your teen is ready for this year.

EDUCATION PROGRAM

11th and 12th Grade
Madrichim Leadership

Sunday Mornings | 8:45am–12:00pm

Our 11th and 12th-graders serve as senior Madrichim, taking on greater responsibility in classrooms and youth programs. As mentors and role models for younger students, they help lead activities, support teachers and represent teen leadership within the community. Monthly leadership sessions are included and students continue to earn community service hours for their work.

Each option is based on the level of commitment and engagement your teen is ready for this year.
