About Us
Serving the members of our community and creatively perpetuating Jewish life.
Mission. Vision. Values.
What We Believe
We live in changing times, yet we are grounded in the timeless truths and wisdom of Torah and the values of our faith. At Broward Central Synagogue, our community is guided by enduring beliefs and sacred traditions that shape who we are and how we live.
From Humble Beginnings
Our History
Broward Central Synagogue was chartered in 1975 and welcomed its first Rabbi, Dr. Sheldon J. Harr, the following year. What began as a small group of Jewish families meeting in homes and temporary spaces has grown into a vibrant Reform congregation. From our humble beginnings in a double-wide trailer on Nob Hill Road, we have built a beautiful campus at 8200 Peters Road, now the heart of Jewish life in Plantation.
